This report details the living conditions for women in various countries across the globe in the 1980s and 1990s. The section on Haiti documents the different types of sexual assaults occurring in Haiti such as cases of politically motivated rape, massacres, forced disappearances, and violent assaults during and after the coup d’état that ousted President Aristides. This chapter uses statistics and national and international data as well as testimonies from victims to illustrate the violence and its propensity.
