Sixteen-year-old Blanche left her grandmother's home in the Carrefour Feuilles neighborhood at dusk. She went to a nearby square to do her homework.
Like many other schoolchildren living in areas of Port-au-Prince without electricity, she was going to do her homework by the light of one of the only streetlights in the neighborhood still working.

While she was studying, a man approached her. She asked him to leave. He did so, but returned soon after, accompanied by other men who pointed guns at Blanche while the first man tore off her clothes and raped her.

La violence, et en particulier la violence sexuelle contre les femmes et les fillettes, est omniprésente à Haïti. Ce rapport est centré sur les actes infligés aux fillettes et jeunes filles. Certes, il existe une continuité entre les diverses formes de violences liées au genre que subissent les femmes, mais le droit international reconnaît aux enfants des besoins de protection particuliers.

Cette note technique englobe l'évaluation du genre d'Haïti, évalue le succès des actions spécifiques au genre mises en œuvre entre 2011-2017, et présente un plan d'action de genre et de transport (PAEG). L'objectif principal du PAEG est de guider les investissements dans le secteur des transports en Haïti dans la conceptualisation et la conception de projets de transport sensibles au genre.

Women's role in economic development is commonly admitted. But in many countries, women's economic activities are still an extension of historical domestic occupation. In this article, we analyze the Haitian women entrepreunarial situation and show that women empowerment currently claimed by many actors more romantic than economically pragmatic since women stay in poverty and unvervalued business.

L’économie sociale et solidaire est portée essentiellement par des femmes en Haïti. Mais celles-ci sont cantonnées dans des activités économiques informelles. Dans cet article, nous montrons que ces femmes constituent, par leur expérience et leur insertion dans des réseaux sociaux, un bassin d’acteurs stratégiques pour le développement de l’économie sociale et solidaire. Nous proposons donc de les soutenir à travers une démarche de professionnalisation entrepreneuriale.

Environ 50,5 % de la population haïtienne forme la gent féminine, selon les estimations officielles pour 2010, soit un total de 5 091 483 femmes et filles dans le pays. Parmi elles, 65 % sont âgées de moins de 30 ans et 35 % ont moins de 15 ans. Planifier le développement socioéconomique d’Haïti, travailler au progrès de la société haïtienne ne sauraient se faire sans l’intégration complète de « l’autre moitié» de sa population.

Different frameworks for building capabilities result in different material outcomes for women in four Haitian community-based organizations: two mixed-gender versus two women’s organizations. This study shows that frameworks deployed by the women’s organizations pay attention to gendered strategic interests by enhancing capabilities and functionings that communities and individuals value. Their frameworks resembled Nussbaum’s (2011, Creating Capabilities: The Human Development Approach.

This work has as main objective to understand, through a basic investigatory process, the role of rural women, who participate in the peasant Movement Papaye- in community development in rural areas in Haiti to lay the groundwork and data necessary in a subsequent intervention of any national or international organization which aims to improve the living conditions of this category. The role of women, not only in overall percentage of the population, the issue of activities for the country's development is essential.

Women and girls are the backbone of Haitian society and local economy. Nearly half of Haitian households are women-led. Women are also pillars of economic life, as they form the majority of street vendors and support agricultural supply chains. However, women and girls continue to be affected by severe inequality, and genderbased violence (GBV).
