This publication provides an overview of a French study that attempts to cover all relevant information on sex workers in Haiti and describes distinct characteristics of this industry. This area of research is extremely underrepresented in Haiti and there exist only a couple of NGO’s in the country that openly support and defend sex workers. The main highlights of discussion in the study include: the social perceptions of sex workers, how and why women enter this sector of work and how sex workers mobilize to defend their needs and rights.
