Résumé
Résumé :

Haiti has the highest maternal and neo-natal mortality rates in the Latin America and Caribbean region. Low rates of prenatal and postnatal care, and institutional births, contribute to high levels of maternal and neo-natal mortality rates. In Haiti, most women especially the poorest deliver at home with the help of a matron (traditional birth attendant). The objective of this diagnostic is to use a behavioral methodology to uncover the drivers to increase safe birth deliveries in Haiti.

Résumé
Résumé :

Two years after the 7.0 earthquake that devastated the capital of Haiti and shook the entire country to its core, more than half a million people in Port-au-Prince remain in camps for the internally displaced. Despite the massive humanitarian response to the disaster, living conditions in the temporary settlements are dire; accessing adequate food, water, and sanitation constitutes a daily struggle for camp residents, and reports of rape and other forms of sexual violence—especially against women and girls—continue at alarming rates.

Résumé
Résumé :

In spite of an absence of quantitative data, it is generally accepted that sexual and gender based violence against women and girls in the camps are widespread in Haiti. Anecdotal evidence suggests that Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) is on the rise due to increased economic and social vulnerabilities of persons living in camps. While SGBV was prevalent in Haiti prior to the earthquake, living conditions of 800,000 Haitians (particularly in more than 1,000 Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camps and spontaneous settlements) have exacerbated these existing vulnerabilities.
