The contribution of gender identity, neighborhood characteristics, contextual norms, and socio-political factors to the biopsychosocial health of non-heteronormative persons in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) is understudied. Using syndemic theory, we conducted two focus groups (FGs) of 16 non-heteronormative individuals in Haiti's urban Cité Soleil neighborhood. Eight individuals participated in each FG. ATLAS.ti facilitated thematic content analysis of transcripts.

Toutefois, au sein de ses fondements culturels se trouvent des éléments qui viennent amplifier la discrimination basée sur le genre déjà présente dans la vie courante. L’utilisation des proverbes vient ainsi dans de nombreux cas accentuer la domination masculine dans la société.
Enquête sur la mortalité infantile à Mirebalais, Haïti

Haïti est dans le monde l’un des pays où la mortalité infantile reste très élevée. Elle a été évaluée à 74 pour 1 000 naissances vivantes par des études récentes. Les objectifs de cette étude étaient de déterminer le taux de mortalité infantile dans la commune de Mirebalais et identifier les principaux facteurs de risque. La méthodologie est fondée sur un recensement initial des femmes enceintes réalisé sur une période de trois semaines dans la commune de Mirebalais.

In farming households in Haiti, women's critical role in maize production is underresearched yet vital to the growth of the sector. This article explores factors that may increase women's bargaining power in negotiated decisions about production practices and income use in male-headed households. We find that women's participation in market activities is positively associated with greater input on decisions related to maize production.
Born in Haiti: A Maternity Hospital in the Context of a Humanitarian Crisis

This is a report on the experience of implementing a mental health program in a maternity hospital and three mobile clinics in the city of Port-au-Prince. We started by listening to the difficulties faced by the national teams in their daily routines at the hospital and what they expected of a mental health program.
